14 X 32 X 2 IN. DIPTYCH (2 PANELS) IN AN ANTIQUE WINDOW FRAME. OIL ON WOOD PANELS. A depiction of the TV character Walter White of Breaking Bad, this gaze looks in on us with a kind of looming desire, like outside looking in. This is in a realism style while also taking liberty with the form and cropping in on just the eyes for emphasis. It’s a type of voyeurism with a heavy dose of anticipation. It partners somewhat with one of my earlier paintings titled, “We Need to Meet”.

I was an artist from childhood, and started work in photography in my early 20s, culminating in a degree in Film, and have managed a videography business. Central to all of these was composition. In cinema, it's known as "mise-en-scene", or arrangement. The challenge of that is that cinema moves, and has sound. It is multi-disciplinary. I have rerturned now later in life to the more pure forms of art in still representations, working in oil paints, primarily on wood panels. It was the wood panel that allowed me to finally conquer oil painting, as previous to 2013 I had never had success with it. The smooth surface of the wood panel allowed m...

My artist adventure is deeply rooted in the capture and preservation of beauty. So I spend time searching out images and recreating beauty as I find it. That in turn has shaped my vision and stretched me personally in ways unexpected. There are many photos, both by others and myself, that have already done that work for me, and come “pre-packaged” as balanced works of art, and these are “finds” for me, a sig...
