The subject in this painting is my husband Ricky. He was out in a blizzard and came in with ice sickles hanging off his beard and eyebrows and dripping down his nose. His Alaskin hat was covered in ice. I just had to take a picture and then paint him. It is one of my fans favorites. I captured him well if I do say so myself. I kept the smaller original but made a large print to sell. The charactor really shines in this one.

About Vicki Johns

Passinate, addicted artist. loves working in multiple mediums and subjects. such as protraits, landscapes, sur realisum. I have been told my work is folksy and brings a smile to most. I am a wife of 45 yrs. to a supportive loving husband and mother to 3 and grandmother. Took painting classes about 20 yrs. ago by John green, and dabbled until 5 years ago when I got breast cancer. I started painting again more full time. I was able to find passion and a creatative outlet, and a way to relax. My art is featured in my Art studio Cows -n- Canoes. Along with showing in Art shows and Serindipty art gallery. I am well now but continue to paint almost full time. It is my greatest joy in my life besides the Lord and my family.

Artist Statement

I am inspired by unique faces, faces with Charactor like older people. Each wrinkle and line tells a story. Animals are always fun to. God had a sense of humor when he made animals. When doing landscapes I like to incorporate live animals or people to give it life. using mulitipal mediums excites me and I love to try new things and textures. Like plaster and resin recently. I tend to be drawn to human subjects that resemble family members, and love a touch of whimsey. I even unintentionaly paint smiles on some of my animals.
