A play on words and study of the concepts of "The Great Filter" Theory, The Drake Equation, and Humanity's aspiration to explore the heavens. "The 'Grate' Escape," changes one word in a well known western phrase to emphasize the filter aspect of human aspiration. Will humanity be the species that bursts free of the bonds of our solar system and become a nearly eternal species that populates the cosmos, or will it fall into itself in a chaotic vortex of violence and technological nihilism, only to slip down the cosmic grate. Does humanity have a destiny with the cosmos? Or, is it just another virus that must be shaken off by an unforgiving universe? Only Time Will Tell.

Teague compresses a speculative cosmology into a dense field of street-art energy, where the eye lands first on the helmeted figure and then ricochets through layered lettering, cartoons, symbols, and chant-like fragments. Acrylic handling is crisp and graphic, with hard outlines, saturated neon greens, reds, blues, and pinks, and passages of black contour that lock the image into a comics-and-graffiti syntax. The composition is packed edge to edge, building visual pressure through overlap and scale shifts, a strategy aligned with pop surrealism, lowbrow art, and the anarchic wit of poster culture. The work extends the tradition of text-driven image-making associated with street painting and graphic satire, while keeping its humor pointed toward astrophysics and human destiny.
