Style:
The eye meets a vertical totem built from stacked circles, bars, and a square base, all set against an expanse of white that gives the form sharp relief. Beckles uses a dense black ground as the field for electric yellow-green, orange, red, and gold splatter, so the color reads as luminous energy suspended over darkness. The surface carries both control and release: the geometry is rigid, while the paint is flung, dripped, and spat across the plexiglass in an action-painting register that recalls postwar abstraction, graffiti, and the hard-edged clarity of Minimalism. The narrow, columnar composition gives the work the profile of an emblem or ritual object, uniting industrial precision with the improvisational pulse of New York painting.
