Beckles centers the eye with a circular field that reads like a target, haloed by concentric rings and packed with dense, crusted pigment. The surface is built in layers of acrylic on plexiglass: black ground, metallic gold passages, and hot accents of red, green, and electric blue that sit in raised drips, spatters, and scraped ridges. The work holds the tension of hard-edged geometry and improvisational mark-making, joining postwar abstraction with the chromatic urgency of psychedelic and neo-expressionist painting.
