Night Flight is a small oil painting, measuring 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches and matted to 5 by 5 inches, framed simply in black to let the colors stand out. It captures the restless energy of Maui’s surf—the waves rolling and breaking with deep blues and swirling whites that convey constant movement. The sky above is a richer blue, punctuated by abstract shapes that suggest birds in flight, adding a layer of quiet motion above the restless sea. I worked with my palette knife to build texture and rhythm, allowing the paint itself to reflect the ocean’s dynamic force. This piece invites you to sense the moment where ocean and sky meet in both tension and balance.
