Luminescence

Luminescence is a small oil painting, 5 by 7 inches, presented with triple matting and framed at 9 1/2 by 11 1/2 inches. The piece centers on a textured sphere that recalls the moon’s cratered surface, rendered in cool blues and grays against a dark background. The lighting shapes the form with a subtle shift from shadow to light, emphasizing its three-dimensional presence. Most of the colors were softly blended with my fingers to create a tactile surface that reflects the calm and stillness of deep space. This work invites a quiet moment to consider the vastness beyond, captured in a simple, focused composition.
