Style:
Beckles centers the eye on a vertical, totemic structure that locks the composition into a strict cross-like axis. Against a deep field of violet and black, he builds layers of glossy splatter, dense texture, and hard-edged rectangular color blocks in orange, yellow, and green, so the surface reads at once as painting and object. The plexiglass support intensifies the saturation and sheen, giving the black passages a wet, lacquered depth while the bright accents strike with poster-like clarity. The work joins Hard Edge geometry, post-painterly abstraction, and the tactile force of Black expressive abstraction in a single, tightly controlled field.
