This is a painting featuring shades of blue and turquoise, lime green, pinks, and whites that depicts how I felt while spending a day sunning myself on the banks of a river. The sun was out, the breeze was in, and I enjoyed the company of friends.

Ryan builds the image as a sequence of vertical color fields that read at once like a shoreline memory and an abstract partition of light. The palette moves between blue, turquoise, lime green, pink, white, and gray, with crisp bands set against brushier passages that carry visible drag and overlap. The surface is animated by traditional brushwork and under-painted intervals, so that flat planes, slanted blocks, and scumbled textures press against one another in a rhythm that recalls postwar abstraction and color-driven non-objective painting. The composition turns a day by the river into an ordered but buoyant structure, where sensation is translated into pace, interval, and chromatic temperature.
