I painted this in early spring. Flowers had just started to bloom. I love this time of year.

Ryan builds the composition from tall vertical bands that lock the surface into a measured rhythm of color and pause. The palette moves between turquoise, salmon, brick red, khaki, lemon yellow, sky blue, and gray, with flat acrylic planes interrupted by crisp seams and occasional slips of undercolor that keep the surface alive. The painting is structured like a color architecture: dense columns, narrow insertions, and offset blocks create a pulse that recalls hard-edge abstraction, postwar geometric painting, and the lyrical interval work of artists who treated color as both structure and feeling. Its bright, spring-inflected range gives the geometry warmth without softening its discipline.
