Beckles places a dense oval field against a stark white ground, so the eye locks first onto the saturated black center and the electric scattering of pigment that charges its surface. Neon green, cadmium red, cobalt blue, peach, and metallic gold sit in thick spatters, drips, and flung streaks that record speed, impact, and gravity across the plexiglass. The work extends the language of Abstract Expressionism and Color Field painting into a crisp, contemporary register, with the gleaming support sharpening the paint’s gloss and depth. Its biomorphic arrangement, keyed to the harlequin poison frog, turns raw gesture into a controlled visual ecology.
