GALLERY WRAPPED PAINTED EDGES.\r\n\r\nMy first love in the arts was really photography, and it shows in almost all my works, the majority of them highlighting a crisp image in focus on a bokeh background. My next venture in the arts was in cinema, where light and screen direction are everything. This painting captures a bit of both. The stillness in this image is almost palpable. It’s like that moment that you see a mote of dust floating in sunlight, and it’s quiet, the mote gently falling. The position of the lady’s head is like one leaning into the stillness to hear something, someone. Possibly listening for a still small voice.\r\n\r\nThe light here is a warm and all-enclosing light, hopefully comforting in nature, inviting, like the open windows. I can almost hear distant children, or a bird.\r\n\r\nWe capture moments like this in time, like the photograph for this did, and I found a real spirit in this as a painted work.\r\n\r\nIt’s actually my first experience with linen as the canvas. Wonderful.
